The KNU’s goal for this project, if it goes ahead, is to pursue development in environmentally and socially responsible ways that provide benefit to people residing in Karen homelands. During the Pre-Feasibility Stage, the KNU is consulting with people residing in Karen homelands and CSOs about what benefits they desire from projects like these. Thoolei is also exploring benefit sharing models drawn on international experience of companies whose goals are for public rather than private benefit.
